Join us this summer as we get in touch with nature and make some desert discoveries! Each week will focus on a different desert theme – from cactus to clouds. Come gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the desert we call home. There is something for everyone this summer at Desert Discovery Days! All ages are welcome.

CACTI & SUCCULENTS

June 17th

This week’s theme explores our many native Cactus and Succulents. With special traits helping them collect and store water, Cactus and Succulents are true desert dwellers.

June 24th

The desert’s pollinators range from small insects to slightly larger fast flying birds. They are the heroes of our desert’s ecosystem by pollinating plants so they can make seeds. Explore the butterfly and hummingbird gardens to observe these expert pollinators at work.

You may have noticed dried seed pods and beans on the desert ground. Important for the abundant local plant and animal wildlife. We will investigate how these legumes support our desert’s diversity.
